---------------

The hospital celebrated the World Patient Safety and Quality Day on Tuesday, 13 January 2025, at the KHAMH, A'Ali.

Speaking at the event, Dr George Cheriyan, Corporate CEO, appreciated Dr Jameela Al Salman, Director of Quality Improvement and Infection Control, and Head of Internal Medicine, and her team for organising the event, which included awards for the best Quality Improvement projects.

Dr Jameela Al Salman said, "Patient safety is a culture, lived every day by every individual in this hospital — clinicians, nurses, pharmacists, technicians, administrators, and support staff alike. Every interaction, every decision, every handover, and every process shapes the safety and experience of our patients."

After Dr. Jameela's opening remarks, where she also talked about the importance of keeping records and metrics to follow up on best practices - in Patient Safety, Infection Prevention and Control, and Quality Improvement - Dr George spoke about the value of continuous improvement for better patient outcomes.

Our learnings from global quality gurus like and , should help us aspire for continuous quality, he said.

He also gave the example of the Austro-Hungarian doctor-scientist  () who first insisted that the simple act of 'Washing Hands' could bring down the infections, and also mortality, among patients.

AWARDS

Fifteen QI projects were submitted in 2025 - as a part of the hospital's annual contest - by the staff, from different departments.
